Sarsılmaz A.Ş. was founded in the nation of Turkey in 1880 – the era of the flintlock rifle. Today they manufacture 332 different types of firearms for export to 81 countries worldwide. And when Sarsılmaz decided to offer their own 9mm ammunition for sale, they teamed up with none other than ZSR Patlayıcı Sanayi A.Ş. (also of Turkey).
Let’s cut right to the chase: this cartridge’s 115 grain full metal jacket bullet is nonmagnetic. ZSR’s bullet cores are made of lead-antimony alloy, and their bullet jackets are made of tombac (an alloy of copper and zinc). None of those metals are ferrous, and as such this ammo complies with range policies which forbid magnetic bullets for safety reasons.
ZSR’s FMJ is 100% what you’re likely already accustomed to. Its round nose profile is at once smooth-feeding and aerodynamic, and its weight and jacket concentricity are both standardized to ensure consistent ballistic performance. An FMJ’s price point cannot be beat for target practice – but its non-expanding terminal ballistics are sorely wanting as far as self-defense applications are concerned.
Solid brass cases. They are gentler on an extractor and promote cleaner performance, and this ammunition has them. ZSR also loads non-corrosive Boxer primers, so there is no need to submerge your pistol or carbine in hot water after range fun has concluded.
