Copper is not a precious metal like gold, platinum or rhodium. But it is technically classified as “half-precious,” which means it still costs a pretty penny (suitably enough). That contributes a lot to conventional ammo’s price tag. That’s also why Magtech’s Steel line of 9mm ammunition is exceptional. This range load’s case is made of steel – a metal which costs significantly less to manufacture relative to copper-laden brass!
This ammo’s cases are plated with zinc. It’s pretty, which is always nice, and it also protects the underlying steel against corrosion while it’s sitting in storage. Just take care that steel cases aren’t reloadable. Well, technically they are, but you’d need the free time of a child and the patience of an old man to reload steel cases.
Unlike Russian steel-cased ammo, this ammo’s bullets do not contain steel. Each full metal jacket contains a lead core and copper-alloy jacket, and will not contain a magnet. Expect a muzzle velocity of 1,135 fps if you’re firing a handgun with a 4” barrel (for reference, a Glock 19 has a 4.016″ barrel).
This ammo is not corrosive! Magtech is an industry leader, and hasn’t loaded a corrosive primer for several decades now.
